About
In 2011, after decades of service, some community members joined together to form La Colonia de Eden Gardens, Inc., to empower our youth to make positive choices and to improve the availability of resources for all residents. Our collaborators include the City of Solana Beach, Solana Beach Library, the County of San Diego, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department and numerous nonprofit groups and businesses. We have expanded to include youth from neighboring communities and are determined to offer our brand of family-centered enrichment and inclusiveness beyond La Colonia.
History
Also known as Eden Gardens, La Colonia is one of the oldest residential neighborhoods in Solana Beach. It was formed in the 1920s by Mexican farmers who were hired to work in nearby lima bean fields or on the large ranches in Rancho Santa Fe. These farmers, who wanted their families nearby, founded La Colonia. The name Eden Gardens came later from a land developer who thought it would be a good marketing tool.
Our Sponsors and Partners
We are deeply grateful for the generosity of our community sponsors. It is through their foresight, investment and commitment that La Colonia de Eden Gardens, Inc., enriches the lives our youth, and our entire community.
